About Sustainable Development
In 2015, the United Nations came together to set out the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future. There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals which we are aligned to both philosophically and in real action. Here at Renew Guernsey we feel very strongly that all corporates, the States of Guernsey and all governments world-wide should align themselves to these goals.
For example if the local “States”, the government of Guernsey, adopted these principles administering the island in a sustainable way would become a simple ‘tick list’. Take for example “promote sustainable economic growth” or “ensure sustainable consumption and production”. By running with those goals and checking every part of your government policy we think that pesticides would be eradicated, the energy system would be powered from renewables, food would be of a high quality, our health far better, the hospitals less full, altogether we would be in a better place. If these goals were enshrined in law we would be living in a very enlightened and advanced society.

15. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of ecosystems.
16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies.
17. Strengthen global sustainable development.
