How much can I save on my bills?
You can save 10% to 100% or be energy positive. This depends on the price of electricity, the amount GE (Guernsey Electricity) pays you for buyback, how you manage the consumption of your electricity and how you might change your use habits in relation to the solar production. For example, some people stick on the washing machine when it's sunny. Or there are automatic systems that might boost the hot water when there is excess energy, or you might charge batteries. Of course the number of panels you have the more you save. The tendency is to maximise the output to maximise savings.
Another import aspect is the heating with regards to bills. The trend is to get off oil and go all-electric in the home. Easier said than done but not impossible as we have converted a number of homes either all in one go or over time from oil or gas to electric and many cases that move can knock a hefty amount off heating running costs – depending on the solution. Predicting exact financial savings is not easy, however, we can say that installing a system is definitely going to cut down your bills and it's going to cut down your carbon emissions considerably if you use oil or gas as main heating fuel and change to electric.
